Omega has just released their specialty Constellation watch collection for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The men’s watch measuring 35.5mm in diameter carries the 5 ring Olympic symbol on the base of the second hand, whilst the women’s version, measuring just 22.5 mm, has blue and yellow sapphires, a black diamond and emerald and a ruby at the hour marks to represent the colors of the Olympics.

Both men’s and women’s versions are available in different combinations of 18ct red gold, 18ct yellow gold, and steel for the case and bracelet, with the men’s sporting a silver dial and the women’s, mother of pearl. The watch face is domed, scratch resistant sapphire crystal and has undergone an anti reflective treatment on the inside to reduce glare.

Following Chinese tradition that the number 8 is a lucky number (the games open on 08/08/2008) Omega will limit the different gold colors to 288 pieces, 888 pieces and the stainless steel color to 2008 pieces. The number 8 theme is repeated throughout the product launch dates. There will be five more releases in total marking the date when 288, 188, 88 and 08 days remain before the Olympic Games begin. The sixth and final launch will be the release of 88 limited edition pieces when the games begin.
